My sister ow ed Quilts of America in New York. She passed away in 1991 and I was given this. I know it was antique then and is now 27 years older. I don’t know anything about it but since it’s a legacy I’m interested. I think one side is wool.

Can anyone enlighten me on the history of this?

This is a crazy quilt with hand stitched feather stitching around irregular shape pieces of scrap material . Often found with some small patches of velvet . Very nice and took a lot of work to make unlike doing it today with all the short cuts . Yours is not Victorian but the idea was started in that era . I would guess yours to be from around 40's but without seeing it and the material better hard to tell exact time period . You can read about them on link I sent :-) Welcome to CW

Thank you both for your comments. I think the busy side is wool fabric, it’s heavy.

Crazy quilt made of wool fabrics from suitings - possibly scraps from worn out clothes. If you posted this on Facebook quilt sites you would be surprised they might know exactly what it is or your sister's shop in NY. I agree w/Manikin - looks like 1940's. Love it.
