I know a knife maker personally by the name of Chris English out of Thomaston us that makes something very similar but just not it . I should say made since Chris just passed . Any one with a z knife should defiantly hold on to it because it's one of the best pieces of custom work out. This knife is on his level but I know he didn't make it since the spine isn't his design. I just would like to meet the guy who did and shake his hand I know what it's worth 400 to six depending if the maker is alive or not but could someone help me out with this I believe the handle is ivory or penis whale bone. Not exactly sure how to tell

Whales do not have an oosic (baculum), or "penis bone." You 're thinking of walruses.

Makes me wonder why somebody would go to such great extremes for a skinning knife.

Yes this is a custom made damascus steel skinner knife.
Handle material appears to be camel bone, black & grey micarta sheet with brass clips.
The quality of the custom spin is lacking and appears to have flaws and rust. This is not the work of any professional. Probably of Pakistan origin.
