This pretty piece was a recent purchase. It is missing a couple little pearls, but I am more curious about the center stone. Any ideas about it?? Thanks for looking.

That's likely opal glass (alternatively milk glass or opalite, but those names are a little less specific).
Very pretty brooch, very well made. I tend to be picky about damaged jewelry, but I'd have launched myself at this one if I'd come across it. It's gorgeous.
