    Cutlass/sword with brass hilt 26 inches long, worn blade 21 3/4 inch blade no identifying marks. As always, claimed to be Civil War with no identifying markings anywhere. What is it?

      Thanks for the post Sewing53, I did an image search, and your Sword looks like an earlier than the Civil War Sword, maybe early 1800's, here's a link to a site that has different Swords, and Armor, that may help, but I'm sure someone on CW can help better! :^D

      If you scroll down the page, there are several Swords, that are close, but all earlier than the Civil War, the closest are Naval Swords of some kind. Good Luck, it's a nice looking Sword! :^)

      The hand guard has a more Prussian style, but that style filtered into the Western hemisphere. Actually, to me, I feel that it's French.
