I shared the Sansui amp a friend gave me recently. He also gave me this Akai GX 280D tape deck. It was made in '73. It incorporated some new features for the time; a direct drive capstan servo motor and a Glass/Crystal Ferrite play/rec heads. I always wanted an Akai after I heard one with some JBL speakers. I had never heard such clarity before, it was amazing. It seems to work for the tape functions, I need to get some speakers to check the audio on it and the amp. I've included a link in the comments of a vintage review of it.
    Thanks,
    Bill

I bought a GX-280D at an estate sale quite a number of years ago.
Nice machine, but it is likely to develop bad solder connections
and other problems that can be hell to cure.
