solid brass 'kitchen beater'

I'm guessing its intended to be a meat tenderizer but it isn't 'textured', so maybe its supposed to smash something else (garlic?) instead...?? Frankly it seems like it'd be pretty good to smash about *ANYTHING*, I usually use it for bags of ice... ;-) :-)

Weighing in at just under 2lbs, it is about 5-1/2" tall total and its bizness end is 3-3/8" across and 3/8" thick -- one solid chunk of brass indeed. It is stamped "COOK'S MART // MADE IN FRANCE".
