    Civil War Union Case with daguerreotype of a child in a casket. Front says The Union and The Constitution. Tax Stamps on the back. Wondering if anyone would have age or value ideas? Found it in my Mom's things, so thinking it must be a relative. Any thoughts on how to go about identifying this baby?

      Desirable image and case. Post mortem images are heavily collected.

      The patriotic thermoplastic case appears to be in very good condition.

      The image is actually a tintype or ambrotype-- can't tell from your photos, but definitley not a dag.

      The revenue tax stamps on the back date this from 1 AUG 1864- 31 JUL 1866.
