It’s been referred to as Jumanji Chess lol. 18x18 Chess Board. Hand carved board and pieces. Storage in both sides. Looking to see what year it was made and maker.

My girlfriends dad has a set that’s very similar to this one. Was wondering if you had any information about this one? Like roughly when/where it was made?

this is cute but is vintage , the pieces are quite well , but the board is not the best, the embellishment in the brass ? is not so delicate, the locks are rather simple, and the wood of the board might be veneered

actually, this is a folded set , and almost all the folded sets are made late in China

this kind of sets got no so much to do with chinese culture otherwise they got to symbolise the Xiangi Qi army battle , and origional chess is chinese xiang qi chess

This chess set is for decoration only , for decades the chinese players play chess only with Staunton style pieces

i am a chessplayer myself and lived in China for a time and i got quite a lot of chess sets, i have never seen some chinese chess players or me playing with these kind of sets

it still remains cute , can,t date it quite well probably from 1960 on
