WWI Trench Art Candlestick Holder
Approximately 3 3/4" tall x 3 1/" at base
Just arrived today from Ukraine. Bought from the same collection that my last piece came from. I learned my lesson... show the base so I don't have to hear hours of harassment.
Base is an Austrian artillery shell. Marked "berndorf" and several other markings such as 1916. Even in person, it's difficult to read...could be my eyes still healing from a recent surgery? But I believe it says 7.5cm m16? That should be from a 8 cm Feldkanone M.5 that was a field gun used by Austria-Hungary during World War I.
