Hi Collectors
Wanted to share Minerva, guessing from late 19th century. She's pewter or smelted metal of some sort. She has/had a parrot on her helmet that broke off, some kid running around his Grandparents house knocked it over about 50 years ago he's wonderin.... I mean I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about this. I've tried my Googles with no luck.

Judging from what I can see this bust was made of Spelter which is not as heavy as br0nze but a very good detail was achieved by these foundries at that time. This may have had its pairing with another goddess, hence the title at bottom. I have had a number of similar ones back when I was collecting them in the later 19th century. They were made and sold at better department stores especially up to 1920 when the style was changing from Art Nouveau to Art Deco. Van Der Straeten was one of the main artists who did these smaller ones but usually signed at back.
i love busts! they look very cool in many different settings. like having people around who don't bother you.
