Old Wooden Mallet with 7.5 inch Head, 10.51" tall
Any idea what the purpose for this was? I haven't found any others with such a long head. The indentations on the ends of the head look like long, narrow, and matchstick shaped. The handle looks original to the piece. Any insight or direction for research is much appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Nancy

Maybe I oversimplify, but to me it just looks like an old general purpose woodworker's mallet that happens to have a long-ish head (to make it a little heavier?) and which has been (ab)used to pound on something made of metal, but only enough to make the little scars on its faces.

Hopefully someone else will correct me if I'm wrong, it is a nice old skullcracker no matter what?! ;-)
