This week I went to the Portland,Indiana scooter show at the fair grounds. Some really nice scooters there and a few other things that caught my interest. One of those was a 1939 Coca-Cola embossed five cent tin sign. Not in the best shape but still presents itself well hanging on my garage and was crying for a new home. I just couldn’t leave it there. LOL

Great Coca Cola sign, hard to imagine it was only a five cent drink back then
I remember when it went to 6¢ and my father would go buy cases at the bottlers because he could get it still for 5¢. Giving away my age now.
Love the character on that old Coke sign. They all can’t be perfect.
Don’t worry, BB2, I also recall the big increase to 6 cents.
I was rather young (still am, in my mind) but I recall my parents and grandparents being indignant that they now had to pay an extra cent for a Coke.
"You're only as old as you feel". Some mornings, that can be a scary thought. I was thinking about getting into body building, but when I stepped out of the showed and looked in a full-length mirror, I realized that I need to find a better construction site.
blunderbuss2 I remember when my brother and I had a cheeseburger, fries and a Coke for .65 cents. The only reason I remember that is because we were six or seven and there was a little truckstop on 136 outside of Crawfordsville and we lived in New Ross, Indiana. I believe that’s the only time we ever got to eat out without my mother. She sent me and my brother over there my our selfs. Some things you always remember when you’re young. I will be 67 August 2. I’m not sure but I think you’re a little older than me. Those were the good old days that will never return. Thank you all for stopping in and leaving your comments! :-)
