My fave set, Haviland and co, circa about 1905 for the blanks, and only wish I knew when and where it was painted! Very fine porcelain, wish I had a whole set! I've had this for a few years, another 2nd hand acquisition, lol! Saucer is 5 1/4"across top, cup is 2 3/4" high, and 2 3/8ths" across top rim.
What a lovely set - the cherub playing the flute is so sweet, and the blue stars around it creating the oval are a beautiful design. Congratulations on finding this beauty!
insert ( different victorian, later)
The gold is particularly excellent on this set with little wear. What excellent taste this beaute is !~
Thank you everyone for all the love and wonderful comments! I look at it all the time and wonder what happened to the artist that painted it and when it was done just a pretty little trinket and somebody spent a lot of time on making it that way so I tried to keep it safe!
something went wrong i wrote an whole story, about rge difference between art nouveau,- belle epogue and late victorian, so in very short again , first a very good dating of you , but IMO it is not 1905
we probably do,t need the mark, but it helps
1 it is harde paste porcelain
2 from the hard , we are in soft
3 and from the soft clouurs we are in pastel colours
4 and we are in puttis ( angels)
so we are probably already in late victorian ( see also Sevres who are small spread)
the general spread is from around 1865-1870 till 1896
and this spread is the classic L spread see reverse 1880 -1895
don,t know precisly the SChleiger (= taxanomy), but this got some advantages because this not an single trailing rose vine design , ( the putti is the bonus)
for me it makes perfect sense unless i am mistaken
it seems rather fuzzy actually don,t get mislead because it ought to be that way, because it is in excelent shape
so it is an affordable piece and you did real well , even the assesment you did very well , diffenences in late victorian are very difficult you almost got it on the spot
poem ( this time not mine)
