This was a bargain buy it now on eBay AU. Could not resist as it is the "fraternal twin" of another pale pink Welz Tango glass vase I picked up in an op shop in 2016 for $2. Been lucky with this decor!
The trumpet shaped vase measures 20.5 cm tall, 11 cm across the crimped top rim, & 9 cm across the base.
Made from two layers of cased glass, clear pale pink over a white opaline interior. There is an applied black crest.
Last photo shows the "twins" - the new one on the left has a flat, disc style footed base, while the one found in 2016 has the rounded, "squashed donut" style base. This type of trumpet shaped Tango glass vase has many variations in colour, crimp, & base shapes. Among my collection I note two further base shapes, flared & a truncated cone.
The new vase has a wider top with a looser wavy crimp.
The 2016 vase was found on Christmas eve in a op shop while I was on a short holiday out of town. A nice early gift! The op shop was about to close just as I swept in...& the vase was waiting for me on a table. I had to carry it unwrapped to my next port of call, a supermarket to pick up supplies for the holidays!
Both vases made by Welz, circa 1920s - 1930s era.

Another beautiful piece from your amazing collection!!!
Many thanks, Scott!
This particular Welz Tango Glass shape is a favourite of mine. It comes with and without the white glass inner and in many colours and with several rim trim colours. I just love the beige version as you couldn't get further from Tango glass colours than beige. Only Welz!!!
Thanks so much Peggy, thought you'd enjoy this one! Was so pleased to find it! And if I ever see a beige one up for sale I'll have a go at it, I love weird colours in glass, & as you said, only Welz...a mauve or lavender Tango trumpet would be pretty cool too. Maybe I should do a group of my Tango trumpets as I have quite a few now...
I love these two!
I have 4 basic feet variations all with the same rim but different feet, there are disc, cone, bulb and flared foot pieces. After seeing the variations i can see three trends: Tango (opaque cased with clear), cased tango (white inside pale tango outside) and opal tango (opalescent tango). Australia has some rare variations - I am also looking for the beige (pale yellow)
Many thanks, Jericho! Yes, we do get some different stuff here, which is cool. Have not seen the beige Tango but would definitely be interested if it turned up!
