Found this last weekend at a shop I hadn’t checked out before in Sydney. I’d already been around a few old haunts, when I was told about it, so I hopped on a bus immediately, keen to explore a new place. After a good look around, I spotted this gorgeous piece on the bottom shelf of a cabinet…it called out “Buy me!” Well, what could I do but give in? I’d been hoping to find something either mauve, purple, or iridescent, & this baby ticked all the boxes!
It is made from cased glass, clear over mauve & purple stripes, with a satin iridescent finish. This possibly once had a silver plate lid, as I have a small lidded jar in a pink & yellow stripe with an iridescent finish, most likely by the same maker. But it looks just fine without a lid, so I’m calling it a beaker.
Now who made all these lovely little pastel striped iridescent wares? I’ve got quite a few now, mostly tableware items such sugar castors, jam jars, a biscuit barrel, a mustard pot, & a small squat vase. This mauve & purple striped decor is now my favourite of all of them!
I feel most likely Bohemian origin, circa early 1900s.

Love those colors.
Beautiful lavender jar Marin, and the complementary flowers are so pretty
