I have seen Loetz candlesticks before, but I have never seen a Loetz candle holder in this style. It is quite large, measuring 5-1/2” (14cm) across, and regular taper-sized candles are too small, so I had to buy a bigger pillar type candle for it. It is amethyst and kristall, and interestingly, the inside of the base is quadraoptishe, which adds a bit of shimmer to the candle holder when it is on a table. It is marked on the base with the Loetz oval CZECHO-SLOVAKIA, dating it to post 1918 – I’d say about the 1920’s.

In 1928, the Lötz manufactory brought a glass series called “Venezia” onto the market. These parts mostly had a carooptic basis. Such pieces are exhibited in the Sumavy Museum. Although your candlestick does not have any additional applications like in this series, it could fit into this series or period because of the color scheme and its checkered look. See also here:

Gorgeous color! Love it!
Beautiful! Good to see your research showing results.
Thank you, Loetzforever! I had actually wondered about that, and appreciate your suggestion. That is why I lean to a slightly later date for my piece, too . I received Jitka Ln?ni?ková's new book for Christmas, and was pleased to see some of the later Loetz decors (such as Venetian/Venizia) documented in it.
Thank you, Sammyz!
Thanks so much Peggy, I appreciate it! :)
