I’m reposting this interesting vase that I bought nearly 2 years ago. At the time it seemed to slip under the radar somewhat, so I thought I’d give it another airing.
The vase is made from three layers of cased glass, clear over a monochrome pull - up or zipper pattern, with a white interior. The base is an unusual rounded triangular or shield shape. Top rim is cut. The clear casing gets very thick on the base.
Lots of wear consistent with other Victorian glass in my collection. The colour scheme is anomalous for the era however.
Found in an op shop for $8. It’s one of my favourite pieces because it is so strange.
I feel it is most likely Bohemian origin.
(Pictured with Cyclamen Hederifolium currently in bloom in my garden. This popped up as a random seedling in the lawn, I recognised it as a Cyclamen but had no idea they could grow this way. Anyway, I moved it to a spot near a stone wall & it has slowly increased over the last 6 - 7 years. The flowers appear in late summer without leaves, & if seen from a distance it looks like they hover in the air. Leaves appear when flowers are finished. These are quite different from the types of Cyclamen typically seen as potted plants.)

Much appreciated, vintagelamp! Glad you’re enjoying the garden. I spend a lot of time in mine, too. It’s been pretty hot this summer & the last week of it is going to be stormy. Looking forward to a calmer time in autumn, which is my favourite time of the year.
