Anybody who was alive when CDs came out in the early 1980s will struggle to think of them as vintage. But from the late 1980s until the early 1990s, record labels reissued thousands of albums from their vinyl back catalogs on compact discs. Today, many of these vintage boxed sets and individual titles can be quite hard to find. Also collectible are more recently issued CDs and boxed sets, often featuring elaborate packaging and produced in limited editions by everyone from jazz label Mosaic Records to the Grateful Dead.
