Another 8" desk fan. It has a cast iron base and attractive green paint which seems to be original. It is a one speed fan and works great. The small propeller style blades are similar to a 1930s Barcol. I can't find any information on this fan but it looks to be another post WWII fan but pre 1950.
Made-Rite was a division of Dominion Electrical Manufacturing Inc.
This fan is most likely from the early 1930s.

I did some research and found out this is a Dominion fan made under a different brand name. Probably for a drug store/Five and Dime. Still not sure when it was made but am thinking late 1930s or 1940s.
And thank you Aimathena. I am going to have to give this fan a more prominent spot.
It doesn't look like any Dominion fan I've seen, but this one is definitely '30s up to right around WW II era. Also, it looks too big to be a typical drug store fan, but it's not impossible. My guess off hand is Bersted.
Thank tou aycockonxion I am seeing the hand of Al Bersted in this but no proof. Circa 1935 seems reasonable to me.

Beautiful Art Deco fan! I have about a half dozen old fans, and one is a Dominion. It still has the sticker saying it was advertised in Life and on NBC.

Fortapache, I've always thought my Dominion fan was from around 1960. It's turquoise, with gray blades. Turquoise was really "in" in 1960. It's a 12 inch oscillating fan. The base is sheet metal, not cast iron. But then, I got it for 50 cents! I also have a Zip, a Zero, a Vornado, a Sterling, and my favorite: a Chrom-Ever. The Chrom-Ever is all brushed aluminum, Art Deco beauty, has a high speed motor, and cost me a dollar. They all work just fine. I also used to have a Vornado Junior, which was bigger than my Vornado (?), and a Polar Cub, which finally conked out. The Zip had at one time had it's blades painted psychedelic colors, but I returned it to it's original crinkly green glory. Since I have a kitten now, I either use them in an inaccessible spot, or use one of the two new fans I bought at Walmart. They are safer, but still look retro. One is white, and the other is---turquoise!
I forgot to mention: my Dominion fan is a two speed fan. The Vornado may be two speed as well, but all the others are one speed. The Zip, the Zero, and the Sterling have no switches--- you just unplug them. The Chrom-Ever was that way until some clever person added a brown Bakelite in-line switch, which is itself Art Deco, too!
Emmapeel time to post all those fans. One way to tell when a fan came from is the cage pattern. A safety cage starts about 1960 and circular cage patterns about 1955. Befre that cage designs were more imaginative.
I don't use my fans due to cats either.
