Rare Trevaise vase made in Sandwich, Mass. in 1907. Alton Mfg. Co. of Boston hired ex-Tiffany workers to come to Sandwich and produce ( as their ads said ) "High Class Glass" to compete with Tiffany and others. Trevaise looks much like the glass Tiffany was producing at that time so it is very difficult to determine if the piece is Tiffany or Trevaise. However there are features of Trevaise that are always present : button pontil, swollen middle, no handles, never signed and a certain "look".
Trevaise was produced only for about one year because the owner stole the sales profits and fled to Europe. However the Boston police found him and he landed in prison !
Reference : There is an exact example of this vase in the collection of the Sandwich Glass Museum and it is shown in the Journal of The Sandwich Glass Museum : Volume 11 / 2001, page 50.

Just something so raw and beautiful about the Trevaise and early Tiffany. None of the strict uniformity compared to Quezal. Love them.
