An exquisite enamel miniature of a young girl, circa 1820. The hint of dark clouds and rose-cut diamond wings denote it as a most poignant mourning piece for a young child. It measures 1 and 1/8 inches by 1 and 1/3 inches and is immaculate.

Possibly by Jean Baptiste Jacques Augustin? See photo above of portrait of the Charles-Ferdinand, Duc de Berry (1778-1820) by Jean Baptiste Jacques Augustin (1759-1832), a leading French painter for comparison....

Hi Bluboi, a haunting picture, and I can certainly see the similarities in style between the two portraits.

The transparent meaning - this little angel is now with the angels.

I'm also noticing the similarity between the chevron shapes on the gold frame, and the enamel border, that look to be like the gold work on my cameo over here:

Am I right and would you call that Neoclassical?

I honestly don't know, Paul. Your lovely cameo clearly has a much wider and more defined band. I am wondering if mine might have been a common framing technique used in France, as you can see it appears to be the same on this other French mourning miniature:
