This Brooch looks a lot better in real life. It sparkles! I believe it a few decades old but I have not found anything like it on line. There is a mark on the back but I have no idea whatsoever what it could be. I am not even sure what is up and what is down.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Think you need to look at it the other way around. From this angle, the lettering looks Israeli to me, but that's just a wild guess. Great brooch!
Thanks, katherinescollections. I was thinking, too, that it is most likely not American or European. But I have no clue at all. Maybe it is a symbol/logo of some sort? I hope I don't sound ignorant.
Very different, it looks Art Deco to me the hinge is certainly in that era. The pearl is down, are the cabs glass or stone in you opinion? Are the pearls gritty to the teeth or smooth?
