    Collectoma…

This little guy brightens up my room. He's a weighty little bud vase standing 5.5" tall. His base is polished clear and shows dozens of little scratches on it. No makers marks unfortunately.

How unusual and very nice too Collecto :)... I'm sure Karen (racer4four) would have and idea or two about who made this.

Geez I have to answer now!! Thanks for the praise!
This is just whacky and fabulous isn't it? I think it's maybe Italian because of the colours and the sommerso. The Japanese did do sommerso but didn't use that brown, and the work, despite being mad enough for them, is not their style.
      I really love this bird.

Cool thanks. Yes, no chamfer on the smooth pontil, but the technique involved gradually rounding the item near the bottom in anticapation of the pontil polish.

Do you have a base shot of this piece? thanks

oh darn. This one is 'nesting' snugly in soft tissue in a bubble wrap bed in a taped up box somewhere along "The Wall of Boxes" lol. One day i'll get it out again. I'm just getting overpowered here with glass at the moment and can only have so much out.

Gotcha on that -- I have some pieces in Boxes too. So now I learn to take all the pics ( base pics ) etc before you wrap it up.
