    katherines…
    (247 items)

So I have two cute little doggies here, and I also have three questions, I hope some of you can help. First, what is this breed of dog? Looks so familiar with the wide spaced eyes, and the lolling tongue, the long ears, but strangely I can't seem to match it online. Second, what is this decor called? I don't think it's spaghetti, looks more like popcorn, lol. Third and last, there is a hallmark on the base but can't locate any information on the company, looks like an SL and the other part Made in Japan didn't get me anywhere. Any information greatly appreciated. I hope you enjoyed seeing these little fellows, and thanks for looking.

Thanks for everyone's help! The decor is known as sugar glaze, sometimes also called salt glaze. Mudwoman suggested these are cocker spaniels and they sort of do look like that so I'll go with that breed for now. As for who the SL Made in Japan is, I have searched high and low for that mark and can't find it. There was an interesting hint that Lefton often used a series of letters, including SL, to designate series of figurines, followed by a number. Mine don't have the number so probably these are not part of that. I'm with Bonnie here, the SL is probably an obscure Japanese firm impossible to find.

Looks like a Beagle to me, too. I looked at the Gothenberg site and didn't find this mark listed, so it could be an obscure Japanese factory. These figures are most likely post-war.

Thanks for the love, SEAN68, fortapache, NevadaBlades, and Efesgirl.

Thanks, NevadaBlades and Bonnie, not sure that it's a beagle?

Bonnie, I had searched that site as well. I've googled the initials, and done other searches. You are probably right, this is some obscure Japanese factory mark, never to be found. :(

Thanks for the love, vetraio50, racer4four, mikelv85, and Caperkid. :)

Thanks for the guess, kyratango, instead of spaghetti, vermicelli, lol, okay I'll look into it! They are cute, aren't they? Much more handsome in person. :)

Thank, Mudwoman, that's interesting as they certainly are kitsch! Cocker spaniels, hm maybe, lol. Thanks, too cute, indeed! :)

Awe, so cute. The eyes remind me of my mom's min pin and the ears of a cocker spaniel. How genius somebody did a cool mutt maybe? They are the best pets.
Signatures make me completely nuts so I'm just gonna remember what you said about sugar glaze. So cute!! I have bought some little glass animals I haven't posted. You're tempting me. LOL
