Hello, I bought this in an Antiques shop earlier this year whilst abroad.
Have drawn a complete blank trying to identify it and research it, any help would be gratefully received.

I'm guessing its anywhere from the late 19th Century up to about the 1920's/1930's as it seems to have some age to it.

Made from Brass and is still working as a Bulldog clip.

It measures 85mm at its widest point by 90mm in Height. Width is 35mm.
    Weighs 99 Grams.

Was it originally an item used by the USA Postal Service?

    Any assistance would be great.
    Regards Dave.

I am not sure WHO it was made for, but based on the size and description it was used as a clip. The large hole was used for mounting.

I wouldn't immediately think USPS on it.

I also think that the quality of the casting would put it at an early date-- probably late 19th century.

Really a beautiful, well executed Eagle and Shield!

Thanks for that Scott, i also believe its from the late 19th Century due to its quality and general look.
Just hope someone out there can tell me some more about it.
      Best Wishes Dave.
