I was a rock hound when I was a kid.
I found this rock earlier in the year while out on a walk with my dogs. This rock fits exactly into the palm of my hand and seems to have a recess for my thumb. Measures approximately 4 inches by 3 inches.

You can take the kid out of the rocks, but you can't take the rocks out of the kid.

    :-)))

    Thanks for any help.

I would say this is a celt or skinning stone. the flute on the bottom is interesting, never saw one like this before. where is it from?

bobby725 - I live in the southern tip of the Netherlands, bicycle riding distance from Germany and Belgium. I found it in the area where I live, which is Sweikhuizen and the surrounding fields.

olebodie - hahaha! The vast majority of the rocks around here are used to fill in walking paths and are dredged out of the Mass River, which is close to Maastricht. I haven't found one like this before or since, so not sure what to make of it.

I love it! The thumb indentation is fascinating. Opens the mind to wondermenr.
