One more addition to my bangle collection: This is a pretty large and heavy bangle with an irregular polka dots pattern. I think it might be Lucite, but I am not sure.

    Thanks for looking:)

Very fun! Could be Lucite. Many of the dot bangles were popular starting in the 1960's - but are still made in acyrilic or resin plastics. Yours looks 1960's because the bracelet wall is thick. Newer designs aren't as thick generally - unless designer or craftsman made. I don't think I've helped you LOL :-)

As always, Mary, I knew I could count on you!

If there is a mold line around the inside of the bangle, then probably not Lucite. If it's totally smooth - Lucite.

You have a very nice collection there.

Thanks for your comment, Gillian. I tend to stay away from almost anything with a mold line because very often the quality of these items is not that great. I like the heavy pieces. This bangle doesn't show much wear so it might not be too old but it is really well made:)

Gillian - no seam which you can tell because of the quality: thick wall, and also from 2nd picture. Thicker resin and acrylic items have a "clunk" sound....I wish it was different than the bakelite "clunk", but it isn't. LOL. Gudrun, I know you know what I mean. Lucite is harder, with a more brittle "click". Still wonderful, just different. What is better? In my opinion the best vintage plastic bracelets are scratch resistant and thick-walled. They should look like you just bought them :-)

Oh, Mary, I think I know what you mean! You should see me sometimes in the stores: I look at it, I smell it, I bang it... and at the end I am still not sure LOL
I will buy it if I like it if I like it - that seems to be the best approach for me:)
