I found this in a box of cheap plastic jewelry. The unusual design got my attention. Thanks to valentino97 for identifying this as Lucite. Held together with a thin brown rubber band type elastic which I expect might deteriorate in the near future.

    Thanks for stopping!
    Bonnie

      Great shapes as you say.
Bonnie often find elastic threaded bracelets at the op shop, and some look vintage or older, but I can't tell because I always thought elasticated bracelets are 80s on thing. When did they start, and is there any way of telling age?

Lucite - I am guessing 1980's - but it could be 1960's. Hard to say without holding it.

Karen - elastic bracelets were around in the 1930's. Back then elastic was white or black round cord THIN braided - and you'll know if you have an item that is stretched out and thin as in pencil lead thin, it's old elastic that isn't manufactured anymore. Clear elastic wasn't invented until the 1960's. It isn't worth it to try and find old elastics. They won't hold much longer LOL. Now your choices are clear (doesn't knot easily) or Dritz or Prym white or black (.5mm round cord). I've posted a few stretch bracelets and still need to restring a few too :-)
