Kotler & Kopit 1940s compact with what appears to be a copper military or police type hat that has an eagle with a tiny shield held in it's claws. Small (1 13/16" x 1 13/16"), but fairly hefty; it looks and feels like it is made of brass. There an imprint on the lip of the interior of the compact that reads "Patent 1802796 Made in U.S.A.". The patent number is for their distinctive "fastener catch" that keeps the compact from popping open. No powder puff with this one.

I found other Kotler & Kopit compacts online, but have not found one that looks like this. If anyone has more information on this one, I'd appreciate it. Thanks for looking!

This falls into the "sweetheart" category of militaria collecting. It was probably made during WW2 and was a popular gift for the wife or girlfriend of a soldier.

Sweetheart items run the spectrum from jewelry to utilitarian items.

Thank you so much for the information scottvez, I wouldn't have thought to look at militaria collecting for this!

Thanks again scottvez, I'd seen a very similar round on an internet search.
