As requested from some CW friends, I photographed more illustrations from my antique French books, Vie Privée et Publique des Animaux. The first three illustrations are from the 1844 edition, and the last illustration is from the 1868 edition. I just couldn't resist showing off the bears.

Just a thrill to see these!! They're all very delightful indeed, especially pic #4. I really love the bears the bird with the top hat.

So glad you appreciate these, Scott. I still cannot believe what rare treasures they are and how easily I found them. How did they go unnoticed by others?

I love the way they "humanized" the animals, isn't that called anthromorphic? The lounging cat in pic #1 is my fave

Thanks so much, Jenni. Yes, I love that, too. I believe that's what makes them so wonderful- their "human" attributes. So glad you like the cat! I love her as well!

      Wonderful!
Happily someone didn't got it before you and cut the pages for selling individually :-)

Roy, I didn't think of that. I wonder! Glad you like!

Thanks so much, kyratango. I was thrilled to find them intact with no missing pages. I can't bring myself to cut up a book. I think people do this because they believe they can get more money for the individual illustrations than they would if they sold the entire book, and while this may be true, I still find it a question of ethics. I don't believe the parts are greater than the sum, even if those parts realize a higher price.

Thanks so much for the love, Manikin, Anna, p-w collector, Judy, T., and kyratango!
