The box is made in the Russian Village of Palekh, that's one of the schools of Russian Lacquer Miniature. It's marked on the edge"Palekh". It's titled "The Golden Rooster" which is a famous (in Russia) fairy tale by A.S. Pushkin. It looks like the artist's name is Kobozev G, it's hard to see. I'm not sure of the age of the box, i don't know or see enough details. It's a very nice box. The authentic ones go for hundreds of dollars.
