I acquired this set from my former boss when he shut down the business after 40 years. The maker mark on the desk is stamped into the wood of the tray STOW-DAVIS. It is tough to read. The stamp in the filing cabinet is very clear. It is the mark that the company was using 1914-1936. The locks are from Eagle Lock Co.

My questions: My boss had placed masking tape along the bottoms of the center drawer to keep it from becoming scuffed. The tape has left glue type reside behind when I peeled it off. What is a safe product to use to remove the glue?

And, what is best for removing a light water ring?

What is this style of design called?

Side note for others who might have the same issue with old tape. I was able to remove all of the old glue from the masking tape by rubbing vegetable oil on the tape every day and letting it sit for awhile. I then gently rubbed a bit loose every day until it was all removed!
