This box is beautifully carved in the middle and on each corner. I am wondering if anyone can place it or age it.
The interior is purple velvet material - please help. I love it but I would love to know more about it etc

What information does the card in picture 2 have on it?
Just says "wooden box velvet lined" . It is a purple lining and I am presuming it was a jewellery box. I can see three birds carved into the wood.
What do you think?
need to see the back, and the inside please.
Back in the 40's and 50's a lot of women bought a lot of knick knack and cedar lined boxes where you put your birth cetificate, SIN cards.keys and pictures. Not too expensive' I know my mother had 2 or 3 of them. After the war people did not have a lot of money or cash back then. I saw a lot of people were giving only what we think of now as non-expensive items. That is one of the main reasons for a shower, or wedding you might only get some ornaments and novelty souvenir salt and pepper sets. You also would see a lot of people keeping their sales bills !~
