Victorian vaseline opalescent posy holder. This was a gift from an antique dealer whom we had known for many years. I've seen the stand made out of vaseline rods but not with the accompanying pretty vaseline posy holders. They each have a double frill and a strawberry pontil. The holder sits on a bevelled plate glass plateau / platter with scallops as a border on each edge. Size is 30 cms square and it is 13 cms high. The double row of pinch work possibly suggests Thomas Webb as the maker. The posy holders are 80 mm high and their widest diameter across the top is 65 mm. Again, they are quite heavy for their size. A rare and quirky Victorian piece. I'm glad it's mine!
This is an amazing piece to have intact...I've got a small framework that it part of one of these posy holders, bought at a flea market 20 years ago, & I'm still searching for the rest of it...
Just wondering, why did you delete your post of the Peloton vases? Seems a shame, a lot of other folks would like to see it...did you know you can make hundreds of posts without having to delete the earlier ones?
I must apologize for my silly mistake, IronLace. I'm somewhat of a Luddite concerning technology. As you know, this is the first time I'm posting on this site and I am still learning the protocols of up-loading some of my stuff. Rest assured, I will soon post more photos of the Peloton pair. I took some shots on the verandah this morning to see how they would turn out in natural light conditions. I will also up-load some more choice items shortly. I hope you are liking what you are seeing. Just a side note, I've also seen a larger posy frame holder made with clear glass rods and wired in the same way. Unfortunately, there were no posy holders with it.
