Here's a picture of my great great uncle Sandor and his brothers from 1880 in Budapest. He owned the military hat pictured, but I don't know its origin. Can anyone help?

Beautiful. Look at that workmanship.
The information inside the hat looks to me like it spells this:
Josef Fuxa & Sohn
UNIFORMARUNGS-ANSTALT
IX. Universitätstr. 2
A search for that uniform business entity produced nothing, but Fuxa looks like it could be a Czech name.
The word "Anstalt" has a pretty specific meaning, and it kind of makes my head hurt to try to understand it:

That address is interesting, because the spelling "Universitätstr." would be an abbreviation for Universitätstrasse, which in most German-speaking regions would more usually be rendered as Universitätsstrasse.
There is one place, however, where it's spelled Universitätstrasse (Zurich, Switzerland):

You'll notice that the graphical information on the map shows a street named "Rämistrasse," so I don't know how accurate the results from Google Maps are. Roads frequently have more than one name, even in the USA.

In reply to Kiramikos: Interest information. That's my reading also of the inside of the hat. The hat looks similar to French military hats to me, but my uncle may have been a collector, and the hat may have no relationship to his own military service in Hungary.
