Went to a tool sale today, and this showed up. It wasn't what I came for, that sold for more than I cared to pay, but an interesting sale it was.
This tinsmith tool is probably from the 19th century by the looks of it. It has a lot of tool making marks on it so, it isn't a production made tool. I believe that it was tool made for a small tinsmith shop. It is held by a tapered end that is placed in the hardie hole of an anvil. I can't make it out, but, there is a faint name on the anvil end. It could be the name of the tool maker or a company name .....It's hard to determine.
Not to be written in stone,...... but, I believe it to be a combination box pan swage and a creasing/beading tool.
I've seen similar swages, but not in combination with a beading tool.
Does anybody know for sure what it's name is and it's use? I'd appreciate any comeback.

Hello H-F, Try J & E Company, North Belin, CT. circa late 1800s. I think it is Factory Made by them, or a Good One Off Copy. lol....

PS: I call this Tool a Seamer.
