This teapot themed trivet is 5.5" in diameter and sits a bit over .25" high. It has a very small "MADE I N JAPAN" label but no maker's mark. I have seen this same style of teapot pictured on several Iwachu trivets and the quality of the workmanship on this trivet is comparable to Iwachu. It may be by Iwachu but unmarked. Possibly made for domestic use in Japan, but export too. A nice find for $4.
I did eventually find a nearly identical trivet on ebay Japan, with a foundry mark, described as "[New] Nanbu Tekki bottle sill Daitokuji iron kettle type pot sill 45".
