I won this in an online auction the other day and it showed up here across the country in 1 day! i think it may be 'Hoopa' or one of those Northern California groups. I really like the purple in this one.

Beautiful basket!!
It's a well-made basket, but not Hupa (they only make twined baskets, and this is coiled), or Native American. Unfortunately, no Native American tribe that makes baskets uses this particular combination of material, form, weaving technique, and color.
It has characteristics of several different tribes from east-central Africa, in the area around Uganda and Tanzania.
