Early Mother's Day Tribute - thinking of all Moms

These little name brooches made from carved Mother of pearl and the names were hand twisted with gold filled wire. These brooches were very popular in the early 1900s and then became popular again in the 1940s to 1950s.

DEAR MOTHER is scripted in wire, wrapped around two (nice size) pieces of Mother of Pearl, with gold ornaments hanging from each. the top piece - "DEAR" is wired around MOP craved facing birds, then attached by the wire is the larger piece in the shape of a heart wrapped in wire to read "MOTHER" . I have seen many of the same type of brooches, however this is the first one I actually held. I will say this one is in great condition.
