The eldest may glower at the undaunted duo, bonded by arm and heart, but he desiderates on how the mobile of his childhood once spun--and hears he still its nursery tune, upon watching his other brother slip on Papa's floppy shoes.

The Hertwig and Heubach kilns, a brotherhood affied by playtime and callow contentions, are represented by two parian pieces and one hand-painted bisque statuette. The behatted babes, attached to a moulded receptacle with a basket-weave veneer, represent two of the "Jolly Three," a scarce piece fabricated by Hertwig circa 1915. Wearing oversized persimmon-coloured shoes, the scarce Heubach boy, often referred to as the "Boy in Papa's Boots," with his parted legs and tucked arms, shuffles around my bedroom floor. The remaining parian boy, unmarked like his three brothers, is likely from either the Heubach or Hertwig kiln. He has Heubach features, however, there are several pieces attributed to Hertwig which do resemble him. The four German lads, nonetheless, consider themselves brothers!
