US Military Winter Flyers Helmet B9B
I bought this awhile back and I have been waiting for winter to show this. These were designed specifically to be worn under a flight helmet, but doubled as a cold weather hat. Originally there was the GI pile cap, that evolved into this style.
The straps can be snapped together under the chin or over the top. This has a date code of 1986?
Sansa says it keeps her ears warm!

I think I have a pic somewhere of my father wearing a hat much like this in the 40's or early 50's. I remember my sister coming down from Australia 10-12 years ago and taking my fathers fur hats probably for her son and they were on sking trips.
