Shown with a US quarter coin, this little turned wood tube and cap is *small*. From THE BOYE NEEDLE CO. of CHICAGO, the cap suggests it held 10 40-100 needles (whatever that means) with a red stamping, while the maker's logo and info is in black on the side of the tube. I don't think I see a date anywhere on it, there isn't anything in it.

EDIT: upon looking closer, I think this is actually BOYE branded, and I've removed the spurious 'R' from the title... :-)

Cool...my first post ever on here was a pair of sewing kits in an egg. I've only seen one since..

My Granny used to have a wooden needle container such as that in her sewing machine drawer. Those numbers are referring to the size of the needles (smaller numbers are for more delicate fabrics, larger numbers for more heavy duty fabrics).

MUCHOS GRACIAS to: dav2no1, jscott0363, fortapache, Vynil33rpm, Watchsearcher, Cisum, vetraio50, Alfie21, vintagelamp, blunderbuss2, jbingham95, Ben, and JohnJoe for all your comments and <love it> button punches!!

Watchsearcher, I figured that's what the numbers were and JohnJoe -- yes it would, but it's so SMALL...only a *little bit* would fit in there...?? ;-) <lol>
