My understanding is that all the "thunderbird" effigy flint pieces were made for the collector market all the way back into the 1930's.

I jad a friend that bought some land between Leeds & Riverside Alabama in the 70s. When he went to look over the land & came across a rock shelter at the bottom of a bluff about 30 feet in depth. He went in kicking the leaves & rocks & found a grind stone,so he went back with rake & shovel. He uncovered alot of relics including a beautiful eagle about 1 1/2 inches by 2 inches,it was grey chert with white napped to where the head was white. I have only 1 effigy or eccentric that I thought was a broken point til I washed it offbit turned out to be a fish.
