Today was one of my 3 days a month that I have to put in working at the antique shop. I returned after a 2 year break in February thanks to the COVID pandemic. There's a house next door that they've been renovating. As I was leaving the antique shop I noticed this lamp sitting at the curb next to an old window air conditioner. Woo Hoo an MCM lamp !! I jumped out of the car grabbed it and took off. It was very dirty covered in a thick layer of drywall dust. Didn't even notice it wasn't ceramic but all metal until I got it home. The shear weigh of it should have clued me in. As I started to clean it a lot of the green paint started flaking off on one side. I also noticed the otherwise perfect weighted brass base had a pea size tarnish spot. Tall and slender at 42" tall I couldn't even photograph it all in one shot. It still has the original finial which is really a beauty. So not a total loss just a bit sad about the condition. I'll try to restore it and find a shade and maybe it will still have some value. MCM anything is so hot right now. -Mike-

Thanks for the comment and "love" Jenni :) Yes, the gourd shape and sections will work to my advantage as I can just repaint the damaged parts and preserve some of the original paint work. The base spot will be tricky as the lacquer failed. A dash of gold should help minimize it.
Ahhh... simple lines with a space-age feel.

Thanks for the "love" and comment Falcon61 :) Finding the right shade will make or break it. The large tall MCM shades are hard to come by in any condition. Anything new will cost an arm and a leg but my OCD will keep me looking...lol.

Mikel very elegant for a desk in formal style... and not to use as an arm it must be very heavy
Thanks for the"loves" and comment kivatinitz and Karen :) I couldn't believe someone was going to throw this away flaking paint or not. Construction crews don't care. IT got left behind and they probably used it to work by and pitched the shade early on. It does have that elegant Arabian look to it. Kind of like "I Dream of Genie " 60's decor :)
