A mate spotted this at the local hospice and told me about it while in town a few weeks ago. It is quite large 360mm and has a large pontil on the back 50mm plus wide.
Mostly clear glass with a swirl of white but a heap of brass/gold aventurine that positively glows in the sun.
It is engraved on the back but I can't decipher it.

Try this trick BHIFOS....take a pencil and rub it over the etching it should highlight it enough to bring out the signature. I did this on a piece I had where the signature was almost invisble and it worked ! :)
thanks Mike I know this trick you will notice there is lead dust in the grooves but I still can't make out what it is :)
