A Token History of Krause Publications
Back in 1966 coin investing-collecting had it's first bubble bursting event. Krause Publications was still in it's early development stage. Cash was tight and all publications had to generate minimal revenues just to survive. One of the Krause titles, The Coin Dealer , did not and ceased publication which meant that the cash poor company owed the subscribers a refund. In place of cash subscribers were given this token good for two dollars off of any KP product if used by the deadline of 12-31-66. Not very many of the tokens were redeamed due to collectors being what they are. The remaining tokens were given to the employees as souvenirs. This example was given to Harold D. Becker who was incharge of circulation back in the days when IBM machines used punch cards to keep track of subscribers. The obverse of the aluminum token explains the terms of use and the reverse honors our assassinated President Kennedy. The tokens were numbered and had a mintage of 1,000 pieces.
