Tony Kuepfer opened the Glass Plant in 1975, it was one of the first art glass studios in New Zealand and a lot of glass artists learned to blow glass there.
Tony moved to head the UCOL glass courses in Whanganui and it was subsequently used by Chuck Simpson from 1987 and Andrew Williams from 1991, but only for a few more years.
The photo shows it about a decade later when it reverted to a church., the building to the right was were the furnaces and kiln were and the old church was the shop
On the last day the dregs from the furnace were emptied into a mould and the cobalt blue slab pictured was produced.
A friend has had it for years but he learned that I had recently aquired an Abraham Palatnik horse and his wife collects Palatnik so was very keen to aquire it and a deal was done.

I do miss Horsey but this circle of glass is a one off!!!
