The Loetz 'Phaenomen Genre' production started in 1898. It actually began with the advertizing exhibition tour of Tiffany glasses through Europe, organized by S. Bing in 1897, that was visited at Reichenberg by Maximilian Spaun, when he recognized that his company had all technical capabilities available to produce similar items, too, see my CW-posted stories/329607 (2026). The essence, of what was lateron called 'Phaenomen Genre', lay in the horizontally/diagonally combing of vertically wound silver-yellow glass threads around the body of a vase together with their irisation. The first vases were Gre 166, combed to feathers, and 6893, combed to small waves, in 1898. My vase, Gre 7966 is the first one, where two different types of combing were applied. One very fine combing of the silver-yellow glass, containing extremely hairfine threads of clear glass, giving rise to the seen brocade like fine structure, into 12-fold waves around the neck down over the shoulders, then followed by two broad and markedly grooved 12-fold waves arranged in two rows. This twofold type of combing was lateron used in Gre 8058 and in Gre 8100, see my CW-posted stories/241724(2017) and /329607 (2026).

My vase stands H=13.0 cm, the diameter at top is Do=4.3, at maximum Dm=8.0, at bottom Du=4.5 cm, it weights 245 gr. Its PN is unknown, but similar to PN=I/7617 (1898) and it is signed 'Loetz Austria' within the polished pontil.
