I love this picture of my Grandad (child in the middle, of course) with his parents. I don't know what they were doing. It appears they were in their Sunday finest and just sitting and enjoying the day.

I love old photo's, are they sitting on a dock, the house is too far back for it to be part of it. I like the bent wood decorative piece on the front, it's like poor man's wrought iron.
I believe they are sitting on a dock not far from their house. My husband thinks they are fishing. I love the poor man's wrought iron too although I'm not sure how sturdy it would be. I think it certainly adds to the overall charm of the picture. Thank you so much for commenting.

Definitely decorative, & charming. What year was this taken based on you GF's age, it looks like a tin type?
My Grandad was born on May 26, 1886, and I believe he was 11 years old in this picture, so if my addition-subtraction is correct, this was taken in 1897, and yes it is a tin type. They (pictures from that era) really did turn out well don't you think. Thanks so much for your interest.

The slight curve in the "dock" and the railing made me guess it was a small walking bridge over a creek maybe.
