Although the designers at Loetz were the early innovators, they were not the only firm to make glass resembling semi-precious stones. Here are only a few varieties of marmoriertes glass:

Photo 1, L to R (all Loetz): Malachit, Onyx, Carneol, Green Onyx

Photo 2: Loetz Carneol double handled console bowl, ca. 1889

Photo 3: Loetz Carneol enameled platter, ca. 1900

Photo 4, L to R - Harrach ca. 1900, except for the fourth piece from the left, which is probably Josephine glassworks, ca. 1921. The pink and blue one is generally accepted as being Loetz.

The next one I would like to find is quite rare, but I'm holding out hope: Loetz Lapis!

TY, Warren. This helped me with two of the pieces I was not sure about.

      Hi Warren
Great to see some older pieces ... Are any of them carrying identification for their decors ? ... Particularly 2,3 and 5 from L in photo 4 ...

Hi, Steve - I don't know what they are called... the only one that has decor markings is the brown one in photo 4 (2nd from the left) - it is marked on the bottom "975/2 B. 343." in typical Harrach fashion.

      Hi Warren
Have the middle piece in photo 4 (pink/blue/brown with ? Hellenic key) with one of the characteristic Islamic Loetz finishes (IV/103 I think) ... and I also think there is one amidst the Carneols in Passau ...

Steve - if you have a IV/103, can you email a photo to me at
